Not only do Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have a new baby to look forward to come spring, but that’s also when their new house, Frogmore Cottage, should be fully renovated and ready for the royal couple to move in.

Late November, Kensington Palace announced that Harry and Megs were making the move to Windsor. Kensington Palace is pretty cramped and busy, so Frogmore will allow Meg and Harry to have a quiet home to raise their little bb in. But before they can rest easy, there’s a lot of work being done on the house to make it exactly how they want it. So, what exactly is going on with the reno? Let us explain.

It’s a Fixer-Upper

Frogmore Cottage—which is actually more like a mini-mansion than a cottage—is currently pretty dilapidated. So the house is going through a huge refurbishment that will convert five separate apartments (which were previously housing Royal staff) into one spacious home for Harry, Meg, their baby, and their dogs.

It’s Going to Be Superchic and Modern

Apparently, besides restoring the 10-bedroom house to a livable condition, sources share that the refurbishments will include installing a yoga studio with a special floor, “an elaborate Gone With the Wind–style double staircase” to replace “the hotchpotch of stairs crisscrossing the interior,” and new grand fireplaces in “principal rooms.” And both Meghan and Harry are contributing in their own ways.

“They are going all out with the refurbishment of the house, and as Harry loves his gadgets, it’s going to be very cool,” a source said. “They’ll be able to control everything from their smartphones.”

So Harry’s all about the high-tech life, but Meg appreciates the more classic home-design techniques. She wrote all about the ancient Chinese art of feng shui on her old lifestyle blog, The Tig, so she’s no doubt going to make sure their space is ~zen.~

They’re Decking Out the Baby Nursery

Only the best for the Royal baby, right? The nursery will feature vegan, eucalyptus-infused paint, a gender-neutral gray-and-white color scheme, a camera monitoring system, and security windows. Honestly, this baby is going to be living more lavishly than I ever will.

And they’re giving Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, her own room for when she comes to visit and help out with the baby.

Okay, So What Does It Look Like?

The house is currently covered in a huge white marquee, masking any of these renovations from being seen by the public. And speaking of the houses’ privacy, the cottage’s makeover will also include “new walls, anti-intruder landscaping, and high-security gates” for Harry and Meg’s protection. But we do have some idea of what the inside will look like.

According to The Sun, Meg and Harry have hired Vicky Charles, who has previously worked for their friends the Clooneys and the Beckhams, to oversee the redesign. Vicky is also a top designer at the ~exclusive~ members-only club, SoHo House, which is reportedly what Harry and Meghan want their home to be modeled after. Now what a SoHo House looks like, I can’t really tell you, because (1) I will never have enough clout to step inside one and (2) they have a strict #NoPicturesPlease rule, but allegedly they’re inspired by 1920s and ’30s design.

This Reno Ain’t Cheap

Palace officials haven’t disclosed the official total cost of the renovation, but the Daily Mail reports that it will add up to about £3 million (aka $ 3,855,000). Casual! Harry and Meg are reportedly paying for the decorative work inside the house, but taxpayer money is likely being used as well to cover the cost.
